RTDSC has decided to remain without charitable status, so that it can engage in the types of political activity which charities must avoid. The government agency overseeing charities does not approve of a charity sharing a newsletter with a group that can engage in partisan political activity, such as endorsing a particular person or party. Since Free To Go served Dying With Dignity (a charity) as well as the Right to Die Society (allowed to be partisan), it is no longer being produced. Instead, RTDSC now has its own newsletter. In stance and content it is very similar to Free To Go – it has the same editor, Ruth von Fuchs – and it will have the same frequency (quarterly) as soon as the computer problems in the RTDSC office have finally been overcome.
